With the Titans gone, and the race of Men still largely confined to tribal communities on the outskirts of the pervasive Dark Woods, a creature known as the Wolf King came into power. Largely considered to be descended from one of the Demon Dogs of Cadoc, created by the Uncreator, mixed with Titan blood, or Urge, or something else unknown, the Wolf King was an immortal who could shift his shape at will. He sired several creatures like himself, and kept others of his kind around him as attendants.
The only clan that dared defy his absolute reign was that of the Fionnabhar, who travelled brazenly through the forest to unite the scattered tribes of men. A council was convened at the home of the Lord of Ainsidhe, who pledged - along with his seven sons - to help defeat the Wolf King. But little did they know that there was treachery afoot, for the Lord of Ainsidhe's brother-in-law, Ungar Ain, had become one of the Wolf King's servants, in return for promise of long life. One by one, Ungar sold out his nephews to the Wolf King who trapped them in a mirror he kept inside his keep. Unable to stop her brother's fall, the Lord of Ainsidhe's only daughter, Deirdre, vowed to stop the Wolf King. Together, they stormed his keep - Deirdre managing to wrest the Shadow Blade from out of the mirror, wound the Wolf King, and free the sons of Ainsidhe. |
